The Training Program at CAPS
Welcome to the Training Program
at Counseling and Psychological Services! Training is an integral
part of our work and philosophy at CAPS.
Our emphasis on the
development of the whole individual and/or group extends beyond our
work with students and the University population; it also applies
to our strong commitment in training professionals for the independent
and interdependent practice of psychology. With our emphasis on
a community psychology model of service delivery, CAPS provides
unique training opportunities for the application of therapy, outreach,
consultation, and multicultural counseling to a diverse student population.
CAPS offers a wide array of training opportunities for pre- and
post-doctoral students in psychology:
Our Pre-Doctoral Internship Program, the central component of our Training Program, is accredited by the American Psychological Association. Positions are available for four full-time interns. In addition, we offer two post-doctoral fellowships. The links of the left side of this page will provide you with information on the various components of our training program.
Our Training Program also organizes and sponsors Continuing Education opportunities for faculty, staff, and other professionals. CAPS is a provider for the Mandatory Continuing Education Program Accrediting Agency (MCEPAA), and presents professional development and training programs that meet the requirements for the California Board of Psychology.
